Need a pool pavillion design?

Since 2012, there has been a dramatic rebound in the new pool building business here in Charlotte, NC for single family homes. This is a great sign the economy is rebounding and people are investing in outdoor living with disposable income. They are not stopping with just the pool itself though.

With the explosion of outdoor living concepts and the expanded movement of people moving from the inside to the outdoors for the home relaxation, everything from outdoor kitchens to fire features are part of the design.

Pool pavilions are being built now fairly regularly and people are not even waiting until the next season after the pool is built. They want what the want and they want it now! Pool pavilions are often a combination of a shade structure, restroom, changing room, grilling area, and outdoor home theater.

Archadeck of Charlotte gets asked to design and build pool cabana-like structures all over the greater Charlotte market. The considerations are roof design, column style and material, ceiling materials, and of course the above mentioned features. If you are in the market for a pool cabana or pool pavilion, check out the designs at http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com or go to HOUZZ and see various design ideas for the outdoors!

What are my deck stair and patio stair design options? Things to consider!

Deck and patio stair designs vary greatly from house to house and person to person. The mixing of various substrates, sizes, and styles make it quite confusing for homeowners. There are some factors to consider prior to having the stairs designed.

Are you most interested in function or form? How does budget play into your decision making process? Is safety a concern as you may have small children or elderly parents? How many steps are going to be necessary to get from the deck or patio down to grade? Have you considered a multi-tiered approach to break up the number of continuous steps?

Archadeck of Charlotte is a leading design/ build firm that does outdoor living as a specialty and has constructed over 23,000 structures over the past 26 years with many requiring stairways. We are often consulted on various design ideas for steps and have a large photo gallery on-line at http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com where they can be viewed.

Higher up deck and patios require more thought with the design to make sure you have the proper spacial planning and safety thoughts while in the design phase. There are web sites like eshow that have additional ideas on steps and companies like Archadeck that can design and build!

Why would I build an outdoor fireplace versus a fire pit?

Should you add a fire pit or fireplace as a feature on an outdoor living space? One thing is for certain, fire features are hot (no pun intended)!

So…why would you build an outdoor fireplace versus building a fire pit? Here are some important considerations:

1. Function

Do you want this to be part of a room enclosure like a screen porch or sun room? If so, it will by default have to be a fireplace for venting purposes. If you want to have a large group most of the time, a fire pit actually allows for a large group to sit on all sides and allows for more people to enjoy the warmth of the fire than a fireplace.

2. Aestheitcs

An outdoor fireplace is a focal feature of an outdoor space. By it’ sheer size and design, when build right and placed appropriately, the outdoor fireplace is a most attractive addition. On the other hand, if you have incredible views of water or woods, you may want something much lower profile like the fire pit. Both fire features can be additive to the overall landscape design but placement of the feature is critical.

3. Price

A stone outdoor fireplace can be as low as $8,000 and go up to $15,000 depending on size and additional features. The stone outdoor fire pit is more like $1,000 and go upwards depending on size and features.

There is a significant price difference as you can see. If budget will not allow for the fireplace, a fire pit will still serve as a great place to entertain friends and family. The one thing you will forgo is the focal point of the space. To see a complete photo gallery of outdoor fireplaces and fire pits, go to http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com

Have you been told you can’t build a roof line for a screen porch you really want?

When you are having a screen porch built, there is a big difference in talking to someone who can build a screen porch and those that design and build screen porches every day! We have had countless prospects call us at Archadeck of Charlotte to look at the potential of a screen porch for the back of their house. When we recommend a gable roof for example, we hear “the last guy said we could not have a gable roof”.

Designing and building screen porch roofs does take a lot of experience and vision. The back of the house has several potential obstacles that include but are not limited to chimneys, windows, different roof lines that may jet into the space, dryer vents, air returns, roof vents, etc…

Roof designs are critical because they can affect the amount of light that comes back into your home. They also are critical to insure the porch looks architecturally correct and appear as if it were built with the home, not as an afterthought.

Please make sure you go to our photo gallery under “screen porches” at http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com, to see what the possibilities are when it comes to screen porch roof design or simply call Archadeck at 704-999-1330.

Like most outdoor living spaces, decks have gone through an evolutionary change. Gone are the days of square and rectangular decks. At a minimum, people want corners that are on a 45 degree cut. That’s just the beginning! As people have moved from inside the home to outdoors, they want unique deck design features.

At Archadeck of Charlotte, we began seeing this evolution about 7 years ago and it has accelerated. People are looking at multi-level decks as creating areas of interest, even if it’s just one-step down or elevated. There are wonderful spaces being designed into the deck that create family or small group gatherings with comfortable benches and furniture. Deck boards are being installed in multiple directions to create more visual interest. Deck boards are being installed as a picture frame around the entire deck and stained in a different color much like a beautiful photograph.

Trex, the leading manufacturer of composite decking sends out wonderful design ideas from their multitude of professional installers that is a frequent reference guide. We are seeing outdoor fireplaces being installed on and next to decks, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and even Green Eggs in built-ins.

Deck designs are so unique that movie sets are looking for ways to glamorize their scenes with unique outdoor spaces. In many ways, living outdoors has become the vogue. For great deck designs, go to http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com

Review on Archadeck of Charlotte Master Bath Remodeling

Charlotte bathroom remodeling Archadeck of Charlotte/ Value Remodelers

Here is new review on Archadeck of Charlotte that owns Value Remodelers and Handyman Services:

From: Beline M.
Date: December 19, 2013
Subject: Value Remodelers Division

After living in our house for 19 years, my husband and I finally agreed it was time to remodel our master bath.  We have lived in Charlotte for 35 years and were familiar with the work that Archadeck had done in this area but just the past several years through seeing them at the home shows and advertising in the local home magazines realized that they also specialized in projects such as ours.

We interviewed another local contractor but chose Value Remodelers because of the longstanding reputation of the company and our design consultant, Greg Handzlik.  Once we met with him, we knew we could “work with him”.  He has a great sense of humor and made suggestions that changed the overall look of our master bath.

Our “team” of John and Mario were here almost every day.  We always knew when to expect them and if they weren’t coming we got a call either from Sue, Greg or John himself if they were going to be late or had to pick up some supplies on the way.  They became so much a part of our daily routines that we missed them when they weren’t here.  The quality of the workmanship is excellent.

We only had one small “hiccup” in our project that was resolved and we couldn’t be happier with the end results.  Even now after several months of using our newly enlarged and remodeled shower I feel that I am in a hotel!

It should obviously come as no surprise that we will and have already referred your company and especially our “team ” to our friends should they have any remodeling needs.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Tom & Beline M.
