Fire features to extend your outdoor living to year around include fire pits and fire places. We design them incorporated with structures like covered patios and porches or free standing on patios and decks.
Outdoor lighting is the perfect accent for evening functionality, safety and ambiance.
Outdoor heaters can be very effective again on a covered porch or open patio.
Shade structures are a must in the Carolina’s as the hot sun can make it uncomfortable without them!

How can you cover an outdoor kitchen? It is a question we get asked often at Archadeck of Charlotte! There are multiple ways to provide various levels of protection against sun and the elements.
The least expensive is construct a decorative pergola/ arbor that will at least provide some shade from the sun and also can be quite attractive! You could have a cabana/ gazebo designed and built that is more elaborate and depending on the architecture of your home, it can really enhance your outdoor kitchen and outdoor living space.
Another option is to construct it in a screen porch. This can be done with a vent in order to properly ventilate the room. To see great outdoor kitchen cover designs, go to www.charlotte.archadeck.com

Archadeck of Charlotte has designed and built hundreds of outdoor fireplaces in and around the greater Charlotte area. Up until this year, we built them with all of the same materials. Now, there is a code stating that when you build a gas outdoor fireplace, you must use a stainless steel frame that is being enforced. This is especially important when building the outdoor fireplace in a screen porch! It is a more expensive way to construct them but all of the surrounding counties seem to be adopting the code! There is a real demand for designing screen porches with a rustic chic flare. We see different trends come and go but this idea of rustic chic has been there for awhile and the demand is picking up steam. If you really think about all that goes into a screen porch, you realize how many elements effect the aesthetics and overall architectural appeal.
We start with the construction and trim. The materials you choose for your flooring, columns, and ceiling all influence the appeal. In Charlotte, NC we see some exposed rafters up in the ceiling. We see dark, warm stains being used on the columns and floor.
Then think about trim detail. How do finish off the screen and the attaching mechanisms? How about the bottom and the top of the screen porch? For a great photo gallery of screen porch designs, go to http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com
