With evolution in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding market moving even at a faster pace from the inside of their home to outdoor living, there are more and more features that people want to enjoy outdoors. A fast growing one is outdoor TV’s. The leader in the category of outdoor televisions is Sunbrite , they practically own the category.
The question is, do I need an outdoor rated TV or not if I cover the TV with a roof? The answer is…it depends.
Archadeck of Charlotte designed and built this outdoor living space featuring a Sunbrite outdoor TV and stone outdoor fireplace
The advantages of the outdoor TV is the equipment is literally built to withstand the elements of hot or cold. In addition, the non-reflective screen keeps the glare off and allows you to see a perfect picture even on a bright and sunny day!
If you have a roof over your deck or patio and the TV is completely covered and out of the elements, a standard TV should be fine for years ( I know that personally). Having said that, with an outdoor space and depending on how much you watch, investing in a product like Sunbrite can be well worth the investment! As a Sunbrite dealer, we supply them at our cost when we design and build outdoor living spaces at Archadeck of Charlotte. To find photos of outdoor living designs, go to www.charlotte.archadeck.com
We just arrived back from sunny Aruba and were so fortunate to have missed the snow here in Charlotte, NC this week! Truth be told it was a vacation but it’s amazing the ideas you can attain while vacationing. We were staying at the Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino in Aruba on Palm Beach and they have a beautiful pool. We were one of four couples that went to have a relaxing week and it really was a bonus that we missed NOTHING in Charlotte due to the inclement weather.
Archadeck of Charlotte designed and built this covered outdoor kitchen with a cabana and all of the outdoor appliances including a Fire Magic AOG Grill
One of the fun features of the Aruba Marriott is they have a swim up bar and pool volleyball net. Several of the days we participated in the volleyball to be proceeded by swimming up to the bar for refreshments. Two of the couples we were with happen to own pools in south Charlotte and an idea hit me! What about creating a swim up bar in their own personal pool? How fun would that be for entertaining? We are all in our 50’s with kids that have either moved out and enjoy entertaining friends.
Archadeck of Charlotte has been designing and building outdoor living spaces for over 26 years and this would be the perfect compliment to many of the projects we already build! My thinking is that while we are hired to surround the pool with everything from outdoor fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, and shade structures, why not offer a swim up bar feature?
The ideas began to grow while were there this past week. While we felt keeping it simple and affordable were going to be important attributes, design is was going to be key. After a tough week contemplating this, I believe we have come up with great ideas to offer a couple of different swim up bar options! This particular multi-level deck has travertine tile on one level. Travertine Turkish tile is a very popular tile for outdoor projects. Spice up your space with a variety of floor coverings such as a wood space contrasted with a tile or paver space.

Low-maintenance materials are in more demand than ever now. With the humid climate in the area, composite decking such as Trex or TimberTech, are quite popular especially where there is a second story or raised elevation. These decks can cascade down to beautiful stone or paver patios and each space serves separate purposes. The top deck is great to station your grill our outdoor kitchen while the lower patio may have a fire feature and family gathering area. To get more ideas, visit http://www.charlotte.archadeck.com
